The first episode was kind of good
Then I watched one and a half more- and I was not getting enough enjoyment considering it was 44 minutes long- nipped that in the bud

byd...just go fucking watch berserk haha.  

if you want a fighting type of anime, watch yu yu hakasho.  really long anime, but its really awesome.  
(get passed the first 4 episodes though- all those do is set up the love interest and basic setting- still watch it though)


im also gonna recommend full metal alchemist brotherhood.... just because i fucking love that anime.  not really gruesome fighting (it does get pretty bloody at times though) and it totally has its share of violence and war.  it also has its share of pure fucked upness (the ideas and certain events, not the visuals... one episode had me traumatized for like 2 days [not really but it did affect me a bit...though the second time around when i saw it i was prepared...that fucking episode though).  awesome characters and engrossing world.

yeah there are 2.  original fma, and fma brotherhood.  weirdly enough brotherhood is actually the one that follows the manga.  the other one has its own story.  i think brotherhood is way better.  the ending of the original fma was off putting for me.  brotherhoods ending is fantastic and epic

No, FMA is pretty much a fan fiction turned anime. I don't watch much anime, but Manowar in anime format would have to be both cheesy and hyper-masculine.

i wouldn't call brotherhood a typical anime.  i actually cant think of another anime thats like it in the least.  i think its a pretty unique idea.  sweat drops and chibi moments have nothing to do with the show itself. those traits are honestly completely superfluous.  its just something they use on occasion.  the story and characters are what make the show what it is.

LOR has bad taste in everything fyi. Don't bother with it. Go with Berserk instead if you have to watch an anime.
