| Hello prospective members of my future fan club.
No, just kidding. I'm a dumbass. *wave* Hello. My friend over there, who goes by Gwonam, introduced me to this forum. He said you were all rampaging hellbeasts from the blackest underdeep and that we'd get along swimmingly. I hope this is so.

| The underdeep houses that which cannot be spoken of, for it is under the deepest reaches in the abyss beneath the bottom of the most bottomless pit. Drake couldn't find his way up from it. It's that serious. Welcome, sir. | |

| I feel like Anime shows actually look pretty sick. Haven't started a single new series since the elementary school days of DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, and those shows that everyone watched. Atlus Games should make an Anime. The videogame Catherine was very fun
What kind of music are you into?

Are the dubs brutal? berserk i can't think of anything more brutal-tastic...maye elfen lied but I actually haven't seen that one yet (i have only heard about how ridiculously graphic it is) berserk was fucking amazing though. and last exile is really good if you want to give that a shot, its just not "Gritty". | Perhaps not, but Last Exile isn't too far off from being grim, either. It channels a lot of "fear of the unknown," if that makes any sense. It isn't graphic or anything, but it is most certainly higher tier material. It's thought fodder - most anime don't even get that far without "kawaii desu ne ^___^ lucky star-u"
Never watched season 2 though. I heard it was complete garbage.

| Last Exile has plenty of story arcs, but by and large it's a steampunk world called Prester with two nations gutting each other for resources in an enduring war of attrition while one organization called the Guild acts as an an executive hand in the affairs of the world. Fighting is done primarily on small aircraft and flying fortresses, yet the diversified rules of war instated by the Guild act like a universal Nuremburg should anything be done that violates their code.
I'm sure you can see where this is going without revealing characters or too much more, but it's still a very interesting watch.

It took me a while to figure out what that one solider kept repeating but I think he was saying "Dissive bullets will avoid ____ _____ (his name)'s body"

| Mullen Shetland. He's talking about how Disith (the country he's fighting against, him being an Anatoray soldier) bullets will avoid his body if he keeps chanting that phrase. His character is very likable as he stops being a coward but never stops being scared. It's an interesting duality that causes a lot of problems for a lot of characters that he resolves in many ways midway through.
Basically, the Guild regulates war so that there isn't a "war monopoly" if that makes sense. Disith is merely a pawn on the board.

deathnote isn't bad. there is no way it should be compared to naruto/bleach shonen animes. first off, it only has 32 episodes, and no filler (which those other animes have in abundance). the only thing it has in common with those animes is the fact that its popular. its not even in the same genre. granted, some people hate the ending, but the first half of it is pretty freaking gripping. one of those animes that makes you want to watch the next episode just to see what happens because you cant handle it. its actually a really well-thought out anime in my opinion. dont judge till you've tried it and dont be scared of it just because of its fanbase. i've seen some comparisons of the anime equivalent to breaking bad which (even though i dont watch breaking bad (all my friends do though so i know whats going on)) i feel is a logical comparison. lots of cat and mouse types of games and neat plot turns. on the other hand, if you dont like it, its fine, its just not your type of show. another anime that is frequently compared to it which i like a lot better is code geass. holy shit i loved that show. it has the "WHAT THE FUCK IS GONNA HAPPEN NOW" factor deathnote has but times ten in my opinion. plus its a 50 episode anime...i watched that fucker in like a week cuz i got too addicted to it. (7 episodes a day? holy shit i must have been doing absolutely nothing that week...but yeah....loved it...ending is fucking awesome too actually) also im glad your liking last exile so far. its really awesome anime.

| I am an anime noob. Do they typically make them PG rated? Not that I'm complaining that The Last Exile isn't violent enough but its definitely for all ages. How do these other shows vary with violence and whatnot? Sometimes I feel that plots are stronger when they aren't afraid of toning everyone down | |

| Is Beserk anything like DragonBallZ? I think that's what I'm looking for: an anime with hectic action or a borderline horror show
I watched 13 episodes of Last Exile and its good in the way a Pixar movie is good. It has good animation and the story is nice. But at the end its still sort of aimed for the younger teens
So I picked some random show on netflix and it was like Supernatural only anime, and I didn't like that either
I think I'm looking for either horror or action. Preferably action
If I want drama I'm likely to seek a movie instead
