I am also of Ukrainian descent, but most of my family left a bit before the Holodomor. I knew Ukraine was in a very bad place economically and politically, but it's just getting ridiculous. I am hoping that this leads to something positive, but it seems so bleak at the moment. I feel so sorry for the people stuck there.

Looks like their bid with the EU can only go one of two ways: a military coup that integrates their government with the whole of the union or the rioters are abated into the den of false diplomacy with the Russian government. I wonder why this isn't being covered more. This is a serious violation of basic human rights. I'm not saying violence is the answer to a corrupted government, but pit against a deaf adversary it's the only answer you have.

3 people have died already.  the police are using live ammunition on the protesters.  The government made it illegal to protest, To be in a line of cars more than 5, to wear masks or helmets or anything that would be specifically brought to a protest.  People in the vicinity of the protests are getting text messages that read "Dear subscriber, you are registered as a participant in a mass disturbance.” fucking creepy...  its seriously out of control.

im not sure if violence is the answer, but the Ukrainian people need more support from the rest of the free world to try and have a legitimate democracy. The government is absolutely horrific, and the ways things have been going, if things aren't monitored, corruption will be allowed to continue with the bribes and ballot-stuffing and bullshit laws.

Not so sure if just taking down the president would do anything, there's probably hundreds lined up to take his place.

It's uncanny how when freedoms are robbed, the people become disquieted. It makes me wonder if we'll ever see turmoil to this scale again. With the encroaching threat to privacy, firearms control and distribution, and the disrepair the current government is in, I believe we're on the cusp of a very similar situation. Washington's going to raise some hell come 2016/2020.

Ukraine has been dealing with this for more than 10 years, and never since the republic formed had they any semblance of peace. You can't help but feel when they seceded from the USSR that they painted a target on their back. I hope the nations of the world pay attention to governments like Greece and Ukraine: they're a stone's throw away from the didactic, iron-fist leadership in North Korea.

Where's the foreign support for the Ukrainian rebellion? Are they waiting for an actual insurrection? The US may not be the first to the table when it comes to talks of sanctions, negotiations and the like, but certainly the UN would seek to intervene at this point. We seem so entrenched in Israel and their immediate neighborhood to give a damn about the rest of the world, but what about everyone else? What's the excuse for the blind eye?

ukraine has been dealing with this for well over 10 years. Ever since...forever, russia has had its in hand in ukrainian affairs, and along with that- corruption. There was a moment of hope in 2004, but that was short-lived and wasn't anything anybody thought it would be. I'm surprised no one is intervening yet as well. Everyone is asking for some negotiation talk and no one is answering the call.

So, they're not vying for EU membership. The west's media outlets are already poisoned if this report is to be believed, but that's no surprise when it comes to foreign affairs. Spin it as hard as you can, as fast as you can - but only to an extent. This goes beyond that extent. This is asking for a coup, and these people need one.

My heart goes out to these people. The basic right to life has been made null thanks to the "Family" business. Go fucking figure.
