Introducing the general talk thread. This is here to avoid threads with 4 posts.

im waiting for sonata's new album, wintersun (like everybody), diablo swing orchestra's new album (ive been waiting forever this), and river city extensions new album (thats not metal but i wanted to list it anyway)

I've been listening to Insomnium's new album a hell of a lot. The only words I have to describe it are FUCKING IMMENSE. Fantastic album. Definitely in my top 5 of the year.

it wasnt really wanky. it was just rhythmically intricate. didnt really see anything technically mouth gaping

Insomnium is probably one of the best bands out there today. They've actually maintained consistency across 5 albums, which is something many bands aren't doing. And they aren't just releasing the same album over and over, which makes it doubly impressive

They are. Lay The Ghost To Rest may be one of my new favourites. Fantastic song. I love how they manage to maintain that definitive Insomnium sound without becoming repetitive and boring. Honestly, I can never get tired of them. Their music just makes me happy.

professionals should use GOOD sounding guitar tones when its the only fucking instrument, not line 6 spider III combos with the mids scoooped the fuck out. i know it was a marshall in the video... but it fucking doesnt sound like one... or they just somehow used the power of suckitude to make it suck. o and if you want bad, i highly recommend design the skyline, as they are the worst band to walk this earth.

i read the comments and i realized the reason i vocally hate those bands is not because they're bad, its because so many people think they are good and original and it pisses me off.
