The very first thing that is said will tell you who is the wife, other hints are throughout but the very first thing that is said is
"I said to him give her up by all I hold that is sacred."

It's confusing and the blue jars are distracting

i read the script, made it a bit eaiser to understand

The first woman to talk is the wife
First of all its called Play because its a simple title, no bias at all or hints
They are in jars- symbolic of their deepest darkest secrets
They are saying things like "Then she said I know your unfaithful, you stink of b.tch"
Right infront of each other, they don't acknowledge that they are right next to each other
The man says "Have I been neglecting you? How can we be together if there was someone else?"
She also says "Maybe I'm accusing him unjustly" showing how foolish she is. So the wife does find out and they hire a 'bloodhound', someone to help with the marriage and the man says that he was happy for the extra money. Which is a ****ing retarded thing to say in that situation, showing that he didn't really care for that...at all. So then the wife says rather expressionless- "So he was mine again all mine"
Only to say later "I began to smell her off him again."
Its weird because sometimes the other characters will say what the husband is saying, they speak for each other, their all connected somehow. So the wife burns all of his stuff and to be honest, I don't really understand the ending. I think its left open for you to decide like most of Samuel Beckett's work
But this play is so different from regular drama
The second act of this play has the EXACT SAME DIALOUGE, I am serious, they say the exact same **** only with less expression, this time they sound rather depressed, like they have told the story a hundred times. The first act they sound rather fierce, but the second they sounded full of regret.
Also the characters are not really human, or they would want to get out of the jars obviously or at least move or I dunno...Look at the damn camera? Or blink?
The most human aspect is when the husband hiccups, which is to emphasis his lying
But the characters are continuing each others sentences and my guess is that if there was an act 3, it would be the same dialouge again, as it is a glispe of an affair that is a locked away memory that is playing over and over
