I feel like a huge atheist right now

So I took astronomy as an elective. Check out this video that we watched. Its incredibly trippy. Godamn space.

God, that just makes you feel so insignisficant. LOL

It blows my mind how we cannot look more than 14 million light years away because we haven't existed for that long, and everything we see in space is years in the past. So if we tried to look for something more than 14 MLYs away then we would be looking into something that doesn't exist. Mindfuck

Billion*. Like 13.7 billion light years is how far we can see. However the universe has been constantly expanding so it's more like 78 billion light years in radius. Think of it like if you were walking away from your home, but as you were walking the streets/sidewalks were becoming stretched. Even if you only walked 20 meters, by then the streets might have been stretched enough that your home is 50 meters back, for example.

However that would be a bit misleading, because of course at this point you can't go back home. If you try to you'll just run into debris scattered all over the place. It'll look like your home is still there but it isn't. And there is no center. The shape of the universe is not intuitive.

Space is so fucking huge. There's this fairly big park next to our school and, in Physics, our teacher took us out to it to do a proper scale model of our solar system and we ended up going through the whole park.

ive always been deeply interested in astronomy so I naturally enjoyed this.

Needs more space.

this stuff makes my head hurt. i end up thinking about it too much... like string theory and the 11th dimension... fuck that shit. my brain explodes everytime i watch the discovery channel special (science channel? idk). ugh... i cant stop watching it either... i feel like ill get it this time or something.
