You're nice

I absolutely hate being called nice. You're nice is thee absolute anti-compliment. For one, being nice is pretty much labeled as someone who is probably shy, and doesn't have any qualities worth liking, and you don't really know the person so you tell them that they are not mean. That's essentially what it means, you are not mean. Being called nice is being labeled as someone who can never be intimidating because they are too busy not demonstrating real qualities. Another thing, if you call someone nice, is that really the very best you can come up with? I mean its just awful. At least say, man that was fun, we gotta chill again bud. Do not tell someone that they are nice, honestly, what are you trying to prove? I made this thread because I was labeled on some facebook picture as "The nice guy." So naturally I comment saying, what is this? Nice guy? This is an insult, why am I not the "loud" or the "weird" one? Then the other tagged people began taking my point and expressing similar complaints, thus stealing my thunder. Think about it, do you really want to be the nice guy? When I imagine the nice guy, I think of someone who is smart, wears a sweatervest, and is always well mannered but when they drink let loose. I think the word nice is perfect for sarcasm. For example
Person: Lets watch sitcoms
You: Well doesn't that sound fucking nice

In that sense I can see how it would be kind of a let down. It depends on context though. I get mixed feelings when my family praises me as being nice. Like a bit of laughter but with solemness and disdain. I don't think I'd mind if someone I met called me nice though. It might sound crazy but what matters more to me is just seeing their perception of things...not in the tactical sense, but in the actual moment...it has an effect.

Never been a problem with me: I'm too opinionated to be called nice.

Im sorry I dont know why I do that. Seriously though. Being a Nice Guy isnt bad in the slightest. Ladies love a nice guy verses a weird or loud guy. Not to mention being a nice guy to people means more allies, and a more intimidating army.

But as they say nice guys always finish last and nice people are walked over easily. I personally make friends with more "meaner" people since when someone's being nice to me and I've known them for a long time I just think their being fake.

I don't mind it much at all really. I've learned that it's just a compliment girls use even if they mean you're a lot more than nice. I hang around a lot with a big group of friends, most of which are girls, and they always say that when they compliment someone. It's just something they do. One of my friends always tells me I'm "the nicest guy she knows" but I know she means I'm a really good friend to her or something like that.

BTW, no offense to any of the girls on the forum. It's not a bad thing. It's just something I've noticed. Guys rarely compliment each other at all, anyway.
