I'm sorry to tell you guys that GravyGulper died last month. This isn't a joke thread or anything, this forum is too vacant for shenanigans like that.

He took his life. I knew he struggled with depression but he seemed like he had improved himself a lot right before too.

fuck man... that's devastating. There really are no words for something like that, especially when it comes to suicide. It's difficult to comprehend, trying to imagine the headspace he must have been in to be able to go through with something like that. Are you doing okay?

I'm alright. I just never expected it though. I drifted apart from him in his last year and I always knew he suffered from depression. He even told me suicide was the coward's way out. He told me not to worry about it. He even sent me messages a week or two prior to his death. I don't even know if I responded

Fuck man.  Well, don't beat yourself up over it.  That kind of stuff happens.  Sincerely hope you're alright though, even if you did drift apart, that can't be easy.

also, hey byd.

Thanks man, I'm doing alright now. I had a bit of a drinking problem about 10 months ago but I stopped that myself. I doubt it's something that will ever really go away, it feels like fresh wound even though it's almost been a year now. And don't worry about me, I don't blame myself for anything, he actively pushed me away from him in his last year. I gave him space because I figured he wanted it. I don't believe it's on me at all

Depression, and mental illness in general, is a really tough thing to deal with. And especially suicide. My uncle died from suicide about a year and a half ago and it's still crazy to think about. I never expected him to do something like that - he always seemed to calm and happy.

Just don't blame yourself - it was his decision. I know that from experience, too. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for quite a few years myself and I can say that it is not anybody's fault. It's just the way it is. And if somebody decides to take their life because of mental illness like that, it's the illness's fault.

But man, RIP. Life can be really tough.
