So the new Equilibrium album is out

and i'm a little disappointed so far. It lacks energy, nothing new is popping out to me. I think they need someone else besides Rene to get in on producing the next album. anyone else still following them?

I listen to their first album from time to time.

It's a little gimmicky

sagas is there best album. first one is prob second best. if you thought it was gimmicky though, you probably think all folk metal is gimmicky

All folk metal is based around being gimmicky though.

i definitinitaly wouldn't say all. some stuff totally is. I never really placed equilibrium in the gimmicky category primarily because I see them more as symphonic type of band- which you could also probably call gimmicky if the only thing you dont consider gimmicky is standard rock instrumentation, but i dont see it that way.

Well since pretty much all of their members left, I kinda stopped following them. I'll pick up the new album but don't have high hopes

well they left after they recorded i'm pretty sure. But yeah...only Rene is left from the original line up. I'm actually more hopeful with the new blood, I'm hoping they bring something else to the table for the next record.

I would agree with Taxer. The gimmick of folk metal is that it is folk metal. Otherwise, it's melodeath whatever.
