The new album, which is scheduled to come out in Finland on September 16, will also have an optional digipack with "orchestral" versions. By the sound of these I'm definitely going to be getting those. I think this album sounds like it's going to be great!

I agree, but then I've always thought they were lame. Ludo from MH couldn't even convince me otherwise and he usually has decent taste in music.

i wasn't calling that song soft rock i was calling the first youtube clip that was posted soft rock "the grays" or whatever sounds like the mormon tabernacle boys choir covering a scorpions ballad.

I dunno, I like them a lot. But it's far from mainstream, and FAR from soft pop rock. Hell, music like this isn't even popular stateside

Tell me Kur, what makes a band mainstream to you? The fact that people who enjoy metal listen to it? The fact that it's popular among power metal fans? Or, the fact that is played on the radio every 10 minutes and a bunch of people who don't like metal at all listen to it?

Trust me, it's not mainstream. F*cking Justin Timberlake is mainstream. Nickleback is mainstream. Sonata Arctica is not mainstream.

So what? I'm pretty sure you could do that with any number of metal bands. I don't get your reasoning. You see, for some one to learn about this band they have to go looking for it. You can't learn about Sonata Arctica by turning on the radio, you can't learn about Sonata Arctica by watching mtv, and you can't learn about Sonata Arctica by talking to anyone except metalheads.

ok so Sonata Arctica is mainstream. I guess that means Cannibal Corpse is mainstream now, Burzum is mainstream (their arguably the most popular black metal band), Ensiferum is mainstream, and of course ColdWorld is mainstream because any one who likes this kind of music could tell you about it.

I guess if 1 person likes a band it's mainstream because they can tell you about it on an elevator. Hell, my friend told me about his new metal band, I guess it's mainstream too

lol I guess, although there are a few tracks on Unia that I really liked. Definitely wasn't Ecliptica though, that album was a masterpiece

Is nobody a Sonata Arctica fan anymore?

This is a definite improvement from Unia. But that isn't saying too much. If these are the singles, I'd think the album would be a low 7/10 for me. But man, I think their Eplicta days are over, but I still enjoy that album. The singer sometimes does these weird things with his voice comparable to Serj. But the singles are enjoyable to listen to, but I wouldn't download them. I remember how pumped I was for Unia only to be crushed lol
